DRYDEN, NY (607NewsNow) – Development is progressing in Dryden.

Gov. Hochul announced the winning projects of the Village of Dryden’s $4.5 million NY Forward grant award.

The funding will be split among 7 projects focusing on housing and economic expansion, as well as community space improvements.

“The village is finally moving forward with the revitalization of West Main Street, where many of the buildings date back to the 1800s and early 1900s,” said Dryden Village Mayor Mike Murphy. “The revitalization will breathe new life into the entire village and help spark an exciting period of economic growth and community renewal. The NY Forward Grant is an amazing program, and we are grateful to everyone who worked so hard to secure this opportunity. Thank you to all the villagers, community leaders, and businesses who submitted applications and helped make this vision a reality. The future of our village is looking brighter than ever.”

Winning Projects

  • Update a Vacant Mixed-Use Building at 12-14 West Main Street ($644k) – the building facade will be updated, residential units will be reconfigured and renovated, green space added
  • Improve Montgomery Park and Offer More Amenities ($674k) – new splash pad, seating areas, public restrooms, and landscaping improvements
  • Redevelop a Vacant Building at 37-39 Elm Street into a Mixed-Use Development ($1.017M) – convert into a mixed-use building featuring light industrial, commercial, or office spaces and renovate the building exterior
  • Develop a Small Project Fund to Support Local Businesses ($529k) – establish a fund to support businesses with improvements to building facades, interiors, and the purchase of permanent equipment
  • Enhance 16-20 West Main Street to Create New Residential and Commercial Spaces ($293k) – renovate the facade, front entrance, and roof; construct a new parking lot and structure for events; add decks to the rear of the building
  • Re-Imagine Former Dryden Church as Dryden Center for Community ($887k) – modernize interior to help conversion to arts and community events hub
  • Establish New Commercial Space and Renovate Apartments at 19-21 West Main Street ($456k) – add new commercial storefront, improve energy efficiency, upgrade existing second-floor apartments

Dryden won the award in February 2025. In related news, winning projects in the Village of Marathon were also recently announced.
