WAVERLY, NY (607NewsNow) – A Waverly man is accused of trying to sell drugs and alcohol to a minor in Pennsylvania.

On February 20, on the day before his 18th birthday, Tyler Orso was arrested and charged after an investigation and sting operation by Sayre Police.

The Daily Review reports that alleged communications between Orso and an 11-year-old girl began on Christmas Day 2025, and that Orso had previously sold vapes, THC vapes, edibles, and cannabis to others. Additionally, they claim the pair discussed the sale of alcohol and cannabis products a dozen times between December 30, 2025, and February 9, 2026.

Investigators claim they were given permission to use the child’s cell phone and reached out to Orso last Friday, asking what he had for sale. Authorities initiated a traffic stop on Division Street in the village and allegedly found a THC vape pen and gummies, along with two 12 packs of Twisted Tea and a six-pack of Smirnoff Ice. Orso was taken into custody without incident.

Police say Orso claimed in a written statement that he doesn’t ask people how old they are when he sells to them, and the youngest person he ever knowingly sold to was 19.

Orso is charged with five counts of felony criminal use of a communication facility and five felonies for violating the Controlled Substances Act. Additionally, Orso faces 13 misdemeanors for corruption of minors, purchasing alcohol for minors, and violating the Controlled Substances Act.

According to court documents, he posted $100,000 bail on February 21.
