VIRGIL, NY (607NewsNow) – Two people are recovering after an accident in Cortland County.

On August 7, State Police were called to a one-vehicle crash on Interstate 81 around 3:30 p.m. in the Town of Virgil.

Troopers say an SUV being driven by 29-year-old Rauf Nauman, of Nassau, was speeding on the rainy highway when his vehicle left the roadway and struck a tree.

A 3-month-old child was not hurt in the crash, but Nauman and a 28-year-old female passenger reported injuries and were taken to UHS Wilson Medical Center for treatment.

Nauman was issued a traffic ticket.
