ITHACA, NY (607NewsNow) – New York is investing in broadband infrastructure.

On August 21, Governor Hochul announced nearly $53 million in funding that will help build 234 miles of fiber and 46 wireless hubs in 28 counties.

In Tompkins County, a ConnectAll grant of $1,012,456 will help provide low-cost services to affordable and public housing properties in the Greater Ithaca area. According to Hochul’s Office, the funding will ultimately enable service offerings at $10/month and Gigabit service at $30/month for more than 10 years.

Hochul says this round of funding will serve more than 24,000 new households.

In total, the Municipal Infrastructure Program, Affordable Housing Connectivity Program, and Deployment Program County Partnerships have awarded over $308 million to connect more than 142,500 households across the state, including 32,117 affordable homes, with reliable internet access.
