CORTLAND, NY (607NewsNow) — The SUNY Cortland women’s hockey team is one win away from a conference title.

On Saturday, the Red Dragons will visit Plattsburgh in the SUNYAC championship game. The contest begins at 3 p.m.

Cortland Head Coach Rick Filighera said Plattsburgh is a skilled team.

“They finish around the net,” he said.

Plattsburgh’s offense has combined for 20 goals over the past three games. During that stretch, the Cardinals have allowed just one goal on defense.

“That’s a confident team,” Filighera said.

Despite the tall task, Filighera feels good about Cortland’s chances.

“If we just do our job in the defensive zone and get to our game quickly . . . we can accomplish this,” he said.

Cortland last won the SUNYAC title in the 2023-2024 season.
