(607NewsNow) — Our pets of the week start with Mint (Top L) and Shorty (Top R) from CNY Snap.

Mint is about 7-8 months old and was saved from a bad situation with her mother in August of 2025. She is a breath of fresh air, hence her name, and is a friendly, affectionate, playful, and gentle cat. Mint would do well in a house with another cat to play with so she can get the full kitten experience she never had. She has been spayed, tested negative for FeLV/FIV, and is microchipped and up to date on vaccines.

Shorty is about 1-2 years old and came to the shelter in November of 2024 after someone who had feeding him outside brought him. He had been abandoned outside, but is still a calm and sweet cat who likes to be pet. He is FIV positive, but he still looks and acts like any other cat. FIV is only transmitted to other felines primarily through deep, penetrating bite wounds. His adoption fee has been waived because the shelter wants him to find a good home. Shorty has been neutered, is FeLV negative, and is microchipped and up to date on vaccines.

Next, we have Beau (Bottom L) and Buffy (Bottom R) from the Cortland County SPCA. Beau is a senior cat at 13 years old, and was given up with his brother Birdy after their owner could no longer care for them. He is fully blind in both eyes, but has adapted well after dealing with blindness for a number of years now. Beau is a calm, friendly boy who is looking for a home that gives him time to adjust and is willing to work with his needs.

Buffy is only 3 months old and is small but mighty. He has plenty of energy, frequently getting the zoomies and leaping from place to place. He loves to be pet and picked up and will let you know with his loud purrs. Sweet and playful, he would be a great fit for a home looking for a kitten.

Others might want to try "sugar on snow," a taffy-like confection made by pouring hot maple syrup onto a plate of snow.
