NICHOLS, NY (607NewsNow) – An arrest has been made in connection with the disappearance earlier this week of 8-year-old Amelia Lawrence.

On Oct. 7, the same morning Lawrence was found safe, 41-year-old Danielle James was taken into custody for her alleged role in the incident.

Lawrence was first reported missing after not being seen since Monday night in Nichols. When the Tioga County Sheriff’s Office announced that the girl had been found, it said criminal charges were expected but shared no further details.

James, also of Nichols, is charged with felony kidnapping and misdemeanor endangering the welfare of a child. She’s being held in Tioga County Jail on $500,000 cash bail.
