ITHACA, NY (607NewsNow) — New funding will support clean water in the Southern Tier.

State Sen. Lea Webb says the city of Ithaca is getting $50,000 for a study on infiltration and inflow improvements. Cortland gets $48,000 to study wastewater treatment plant infrastructure. “New York is continuing to invest in clean, safe water to support the health and prosperity of our communities. Thanks to these grants, local municipalities will be able to make smart, affordable improvements to water and sewer infrastructure,” Webb said. “These projects will strengthen public health, protect local water quality, and preserve our streams, lakes, and rivers. I am pleased to announce the availability of significant funding for my district in this effort, and will continue fighting for these crucial resources in the Southern Tier.”

Across Tompkins, Cortland, and Broome counties, a total of over $700,000 is being divided from the Green Innovation Grant and Wastewater Infrastructure Engineering Planning Grant.
