LANSING, NY (607NewsNow) – The Tompkins County Environmental Health Division seeks information about a dog bite in Lansing.

On September 20, a hiker was bitten on the arm at the Edwards Lake Cliffs Preserve Loop Trail off of Teeter Road.

The man was petting the dog as it went by and didn’t realize his skin was broken until later. The biting dog is described as a Swiss Mountain dog being walked on a leash by a tall, thin man of possible Indian descent. He was accompanied by another person presenting as male, who was walking a German Shepard on a leash.

Health officials want to confirm the dogs’ rabies vaccination status. Anyone with information is asked to contact the Tompkins County Whole Health Environmental Health Division at (607) 274-6688.
