ITHACA, NY (607NewsNow) — Grief can affect every person differently. After the loss of a loved one, emotions often come in waves and can include sadness, anxiety, anger, confusion, exhaustion, or even isolation. While family and friends can provide comfort, many people also benefit from speaking with a trained grief professional who can help them process their loss in a healthy and supportive environment.

For adults in our community, Hospicare & Palliative Care Services offers grief support services for individuals over the age of 18 living within our service area. Hospicare provides up to six individual grief counseling sessions designed to help people navigate the emotional challenges that often follow the death of a loved one. Donations are encouraged to help sustain these important community services, but no one is ever turned away because of an inability to pay.

Children often experience grief differently than adults, and parents or caregivers may struggle with how best to help them cope. Questions about what to say, how much information to share, and how children process loss at different ages are very common. Hospicare also offers consultations for parents and caregivers of grieving children. During these sessions, trained bereavement counselors provide guidance, resources, and practical strategies tailored to the unique needs of both the child and family situation.

No one should have to face grief alone. Whether you are coping with a recent loss or supporting a grieving child, reaching out for help can be an important step toward healing. To learn more about available grief support services, contact Hospicare & Palliative Care Services or visit Hospicare & Palliative Care Services.
