ODESSA, NY (607NewsNow) – A fatal fire is under investigation in Schuyler County.

On August 21, Sheriff’s deputies were called to 204 College Avenue in the Village around 4:30 a.m. for a reported structure fire.

When they arrived, deputies assisted firefighters from multiple agencies on the scene.

The Schuyler County Sheriff’s Office confirms 22-year-old Brendyn Hammond died in the fire.

Departments from Odessa, Montour Falls, Watkins Glen, Horseheads, and Newfield responded to the scene. Beaver Dams and Community (Van Etten) Fire Departments provided mutual aid.
