ITHACA, NY (607NewsNow) — A Tompkins County official wants to move up.

Deputy Clerk Rachel Graham is running to replace Tompkins County Clerk Maureen Reynolds, who is retiring. Graham, who’s spent nearly 20 years working in Tompkins County government, says she would continue some initiatives like becoming a paperless office.

“Maureen’s leadership has shaped the County Clerk’s Office into one grounded in excellent customer service, records modernization, and respect for the public. I’m deeply appreciative of all she has done and the example she has set. It is an honor to continue her work and to ensure our office remains responsive, accessible, and committed to serving every resident of Tompkins County”, Graham said.

Reynolds is in her third term as county clerk and has worked for the county for over 30 years.

“While the County Clerk is an administrative office, it is also a point of daily interaction between government and the public—often at moments that carry legal, financial, or emotional significance.”

Graham says she believes “government operates most effectively when it is transparent, accessible, and built in partnership with the people it serves.”

Early vote in the primary starts June 13.
