CORTLAND, NY (607NewsNow) – Parents and collectors beware.

The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) has issued an urgent safety warning about fake Labubu dolls.

According to the CPSC, the plush figures and keychains can break into small pieces, posing a choking hazard for young children.

Investigators say the lookalikes are coming from China and have requested seizures of thousands of units. They recommend only purchasing dolls from trusted stores or websites to avoid getting scammed.

SIGNS OF A FAKE PRODUCT

  • Bargain prices – deep discounts can signal fake products
  • Authentic dolls have a holographic Pop Mart sticker, a scannable QR code that links to the official Pop Mart website, and a subtle UV stamp on one foot in newer editions
  • Fakes sometimes have overtly bright colors or the incorrect number of teeth (authentic dolls have nine teeth)

If you purchase a fake product, you are asked to report any injury or defect to the CPSC here.

This year’s song of the summer is a ballad, not a banger. Here’s what that says about us

For the past 14 weeks and counting, the top Billboard spot has been held by a love ballad: Alex Warren's "Ordinary."
