CORTLAND, NY (607NewsNow) — The Cortland Area Chamber of Commerce has received a grant.

The Central New York Community Foundation selected the group as winner of a $75,000 grant award “to help move Parker School toward opening as an Early Childhood Education Center and community hub.”

“We are incredibly grateful to the CNY Community Foundation for this opportunity and for recognizing the importance of increasing access to high-quality Early Childhood Education in our community,” Chamber President Bob Haight said.

According to the CNY Community Foundation, the award will “help the chamber hire a project professional who will lead planning, feasibility, and fundraising to transform the former Parker Elementary School into an Early Childhood Education Center and community hub.”

The school was closed several years ago.
