ITHACA, NY (607NewsNow) — The Board of Trustees at Cornell University has launched an ad hoc special committee to oversee an investigation into an incident involving President Michael Kotlikoff and a group of protestors.

“The investigation is being conducted by the Cornell University Police Department consistent with its existing policies and procedures. This investigation will inform the Board’s fact-based review of the events of that night in their entirety and aid in the Board’s decision-making,” according to a statement from the committee.

Video released by Cornell shows the group crowding around Kotlikoff’s car after an Apr. 30 event, and Kotlikoff bumping into one or two protestors as he’s backing out.

“To ensure an independent process, President Kotlikoff has recused himself from any involvement in the Board’s review or any related university decisions connected to the matter. Those who typically report to President Kotlikoff will report to the Board Chair for any matters related to this incident,” the committee added.

Meantime, the Cornell Graduate Students United has called for Kotlikoff to resign.
