ITHACA, NY (607NewsNow) – The City of Ithaca is preparing for Common Council-approved parking rate hikes in the New Year.

In 2026, the hourly rate for on-street parking in the ParkMobile/electronic pay station zones will increase to $2.50 per hour. The coin-only meters outside of the downtown business district will remain at $1.50 per hour.

The hourly parking rate at all parking garages will go up to $2.25 per hour, including the Premium Parking-managed Cayuga Street Garage. The maximum daily rate at the Green, Seneca, and Cayuga Street garages will be $12 a day. The maximum rate at the Dryden Road Garage will be $18 a day.

“High turnover means more spaces for short-term visitors and local businesses,” said Mayor Robert Cantelmo. “This also supports sustainability by encouraging walking, biking, and public transit, reducing emissions.”

The parking rate increases will also apply to Saturdays, which will no longer be free. Common Council approved the elimination of free Saturday parking in the 2026 budget.

The changes will go into effect on January 5, 2026.

In related news, city parking fees remain waived through December 28.
